For trombonists with a cut-bell instrument, this is probably the lightest, toughest and most compact case you will see. It is actually two cases combined into one. A compact bell case stores the bell with flare detached, along with all your mouthpieces and small accessories. A rigid slide carrier stores your slide and one or two additional leadpipes. The two parts are joined with a wrap-around zipper that easily connects or detaches the two. The bell section's case is so compact that it looks like a violin case, and as such will easily stow in airline overhead bins with plenty of room to spare. The slide carrier is compact, rigid and safe for all slides, wide or narrow. A snap-in leadpipe pouch can hold one or two additional leadpipes inside the carrier. Joined together, the case is light at only about 7.5 pounds (3.4kg) and easily carried with the included backpack straps. With a case like this, there's no longer any need to carry around a giant, overweight wooden box.
This case takes the compact concept to the extreme by combining the space-saving design of the 03/1C standard-bell Compact (our 102523) with the advantage of the cut-bell 03/1DB (our 115498). Please note that there are three sizes of this case available:61cm (24 inch), 67cm (26.25 inch) and 71cm (28 inch). The size denotes the overall length of the bell carrier case. This case is the 67cm/26.25-inch version. This case does not come with a pouch to store the F attachmentslide because it is long enough to hold the entire bell section with the F slide in place. If your cut-bell section is about 25 inches (64cm) or shorter from the screw ring to the back of the longest tuning slide, then this case will likely work for you.If it's longer, then you should consider the next size up.
