Lacquer: Lacquer is good, with some wear in the usual places. The outer slide is well-lacquered but shows lots of small scratches. The bell is beautiful but shows some acid bleeds around the inner rim (a common thing for Bachs of this era). There is some flaked lacquer at the base of the bell brace where your thumb rests.
Dents & Dings: None.
Slide: Grade A dry.
Tuning Slide: Perfect shape. No dents or dings.
Case: This horn comes with the original Bach woodshell case. It is in perfection condition with no odor. All the hardware works.
Narrative: The LT16M was one of the most sought after jazz trombones on the market. Known in professional circles as the Bill Watrous horn, it is an excellent choice for the performance of all manner of jazz, commercial, and small ensemble music. One noted aspect of this horn is its ability to have a warmer, fuller tone than many other similarly sized instruments, including the model 16 upon which it based. The LT16M is different from the standard 16 in that it has a single "M" bore lightweight "LT" slide and a more open gooseneck. The larger goosneck and slide give this horn a broader sound than most other horns in this class. It is easy to see why it was the favorite of Bill Watrous. The last year of production for this model (and the regular16) was 2023. This one is as fine an example as you will find, and a good deal at that.
