20th Century. A challenging piece for any ensemble to put together due to complex rhythms and constant meter changes. The composer has tried to help by adding in a separate notation of the rhythms in the middle of the score for some sections. All instruments play into their extended ranges and have many large interval jumps. Entire second movement is to have a feeling of floating, while staying rhythmically accurate without any sense of pulse or bar lines. Movements include: Tuttis; Solis; Scherzo (Quasi March); Epilogue. Flute doubles on piccolo and alto flute; oboe doubles on english horn; Bb clarinet doubles on Eb and bass clarinets; basoon double on contrabassoon. Score & parts. -AP
