Romantic. A respected pianist, violinist, and composer, the career of Sweden's Amanda Maier (1853-1894) was tragically cut short from tuberculosis. Her musical activities brought her into contact with the likes of Brahms, Grieg, and Reinecke, and her ownstyle exudes the Romantic spirit of her time. Her Sonata for Violin and Piano in B minor (1878) is a brilliant and substantial work which is finally gaining the recognition it deserves. This new edition makes the work available to flutists for the first time, with very few alterations to the original violin part. We hope that this edition will make this unjustly neglected sonata accessible to students, performers, and music lovers. Female composer. -the publisher/cdp
