This 20th century piece offers much variety in tempo, range, articulation, and style for the advanced clarinetist. The first movement contains dramatic leaps in range and many fast articulated rhythmic patterns. Movement 2 has a one page cantabile melody which leads into a fast 6/8 scherzo. The scherzo contains chromatic technical lines in both the low and singing register of the clarinet. The final movement is vivace which combines all of the technique and range seen in the first two movements. Range is 3+ octaves, from low E(3) to high G(6). In the key of C.
