This clarinet method is by John Anderson, Professor of Clarinet at the University of Minnesota from 1976-2009. The method was written specifically for college music education majors studying the clarinet as a secondary instrument. It focuses on the "concepts" of clarinet playing and teaching. Musical exercises were composed at an adult level to challenge the student who already performed on another instrument. Appropriate orchestral and solo excerpts are included as well as duets emphasizing a particular technique. The text discusses "how" to teach a technique and includes when to use alternate fingerings. The book is appropriate for either class or private study with students who have little or no background in clarinet.
