Beautiful Welsh chorale prelude attributed to Ralph Vaughan Williams due to his harmonization of the tune in his popular organ work Preludes on Welsh Hymn Tunes. While the Prelude is an original work, the hymn tune melody that it is based upon was written much earlier, in the 19th Century, by John David Edwards. Edwards was an Anglican priest and served as the vicar of the village church in the town of Rhosymedre, Wales in the western United Kingdom. He named the tune after the town. -cdp

Romance by Carl Maria von Weber is one of the most popular solos in the Trombone repertoire and may have been originally composed for the Bassoon. This work of about 7-9 minutes in length from the Romantic period is lyrically very expressive, featuring large dynamic contrasts and extended range. Benjamin Coy's arrangement for solo trombone and concert band or wind ensemble is appropriate for moderately advanced performers. -the publisher
