Divided into three separate movements: Prelude, Air, and Dance. Prelude is written in a brisk march tempo with disjunct melodic ideas, rapid harmonic changes and tricky fingering combinations. The Air movement is sustained and dramatic with several opportunities to shape dynamically and in terms of tempo (rubato, allargando, etc.). Dance movement marked "presto" in 6/8 time and gives the feel of a tarantella. Triple tonguing in long phrases, duple against triple rhythmic challenges. Range does occasionally reach high C and C#. A challenging level five piece with sections that would be found in level 6 literature.
