Fantasy Piece [Fantasiestuecke], op 73 (Kube/Eichenberg/Roggenkamp)
Romantic. For clarinet in Bb or A. Schumann's groundbreaking Fantasy Pieces was part of a highly prolific year for the composer, who seemed intent on contributing to the repertoire of all under-represented instruments of the time. Originally entitled "Soireestucke," the work contains three movements, performed attacca, each at a faster tempo than the previous. Schumann concurrently produced arrangements for violin and for cello. Vienna Urtext's critical edition goes back to the sources; edited performance parts for clarinets in Bb and in A are provided. For advanced performers. -the publisher
