Renaissance. Susato's four-part dance settings were originally written for a consort of unspecified ensembles of wind or string instruments. In this edition, a contemporary "cosort" of trumpets produces a brilliant sound appropriate for these short spirited dances. Moderate range: 1st trumpet reaches a high A above the staff, 4th trumpet frequently plays below the staff to low G. Movements are entitled: Ronde; Salterelle; La Mourisque. Score & parts. Duration: 2:20 minutes.
