British Baroque composer Matthew Locke was hired by the royal court to write "brass music" and in the case of this work, for the Coronation of King Charles II in 1661. Music for His Majesty's Sackbuts for Trombone Quartet, beautifully arranged by Mark J. LaFratta, originally included cornetts along with the sackbuts. This arrangement for trombone quartet (trombone 1 has parts in alto and tenor clefs) contains 8 movements: Ayre, Courante I, Allemande I, Courante II, Allemande II, Pavan Allemande, Sarabanda and Allemande III. - the publisher
