Romantic. Siegfried's Funeral Music from Act III of G”tterdammerung, the final opera of Richard Wagner's Ring Cycle was completed in 1848. It tells the story following Siegfried's murder at the hands of Hagen where his body is placed on his shield and carried off by his servants. The music delves deeply into raw emotions, ranging from deep grief and rage to soaring majesty, featuring the Hero leitmotif. This extract of about 6-1/2 minutes in length has been arranged for an 8-part trombone ensemble (including optional contrabass trombone on part 8) of advanced performers by Randall Malmstrom. -the publisher
