Gathering of the Armies on the River Scheldt (Sauer)
Romantic. The Gathering of the Armies is a fanfare from the 3rd Act of Wagner's opera Lohengrin. King Heinrich appears and assembles his troops to go into battle next to the River Scheldt. The hair-raising and climactic music is a joy to perform and listen to. This arrangement by Ralph Sauer for 8-part trombone ensemble and timpani (optional) is about 5 minutes in length and appropriate for advanced performers. The work is dedicated to David Vining and the Northern Arizona University Trombone Choir.-the publisher
