Baroque. The Prelude in E-flat, subtitled "St. Anne" gets its nickname from the similarity of its fugue theme and a hymn tune by William Croft, however, scholars feel there is no realistic connection, as Croft's work was only known in the British Isles. Originally written for organ in 1736, this music is the crowning achievement of a large volume of works for that instrument.
