Renaissance. Jakob Handl's (more commonly known as Jacobus Gallus) Alleluia, here set for 6 tenors and 2 basses in two 4-part choirs. All parts in the bass clef. Technically approachable by the younger ensemble, but still musically challenging for the best. In B-flat with an optional version in B major on the back. -cdp
The composer Jacob Gallus (or Jacobus Gallus Carniolus), is also known as Jakob Handl. It is said he preferred the Latin version of his name. A Slovene by birth, he was likely born with the vernacular name Jakob Petelin.
