20th Century (1969). One of the earliest modern works specifically written for the trombone choir. The Canzona evokes images of Gabrieli with Renaissance style rhythms, meters and antiphonal effects, while using a modern but tonal harmonic structure. Powerful and succinct, this work makes a good opener. Trombone 1 is tenor clef, parts 2 thru 8 are in the bass clef. -cdp
