    One for the Road

21st Century (2010). Fantastic four movement work for large trombone choir, performed at the 2013 ITF in Columbus, Georgia by the Washington Trombone Ensemble. One for the Road was commissioned by the International Trombone Association. It is a four movement work for 12 trombones (8 tenor & 4 bass) arranged in two choirs. Each of the four movements represents a different famous Belgian beer:
    •  Leffe
    •  Blonde
    •  Duvel
    •  Tripel

There is no fixed order of the movements, though a traditional order would be as shown above (the published order flips the two middle movements). Using the above as a guide renders a typical fast-slow-fast-fast performance, with a big, majestic opening;a beautiful slow movement; a bright scherzo; and a big closer. Of course, like any good beer tasting, the order is up to the taster. Suitable for college level players. Clefs are TTBBBB-TTBBBB. Score and parts.
