Come Landlord Fill The Flowing Bowl (Roberts) [211.01]
Humorous arrangement of the old English Convivial Song. "Come Landlord fill the flowing bowl until it doth run over, for tonight we'll be merry merry be- tomorrow we will be sober." And "MERRY" this arrangement certainly is! An amusing version in 2/4 that changes in to a slow waltz in 3, back to the light lively tempo, and then pushing faster and faster till the final presto. Quirky, melodic fragments passed around the ensemble, technical challenges for each player, clever shifting orchestration changes create intricate dovetailing textures.
Trumpets require wa wa mutes. Trombone briefly plays in tenor clef. Substitution parts included: French horn in key of Eb; trombone in Bb treble clef; tuba in Eb treble clef. -pc
