20th Century (1944). Ingolf Dahl was an American composer who began his musical training in Germany and Sweden. This substantial work is one of the earliest works written for the modern brass quintet. Rhythmically and harmonically complex, this piece is at times powerful, reverent, and sometimes quite light. If you are looking for a sophisticated feature piece for your quintet recital, Dahl's Music for Brass would be an impressive choice. Movements entitled: Chorale Fantasy on Christ lay in the Bonds of Death ; Intermezzo; Fugue. All performers require straight mutes. Score and parts. -pc
