This (intermediate to advanced level) book was designed to help trumpeters become more familiar with the language of jazz and hone their reading skills. It can used as a teaching tool, for practice, or performance. For those who are not as familiar with jazz articulations, there's a glossary that explains how to play rips, falls, smears, and doits. While most of the compositions have a swing feel, some duets are written in Latin, straight 8th, and funk styles as well (chord changes are included should the players want to improvise or play with chordal accompaniments). By the time you've played easily through all 26 duets, you should be ready to play in a good big band, so please enjoy, and keep swinging! -the composer
