Most variations on "The Carnival of Venice" were written by outstanding virtuosi such as Herbert Clarke in order to display their own great technique and range. I have kept these miniature variations within the scope of the average student and have included many facets of technique (such as tonguing, phrasing, etc.) which will help the player master the instrument and be of use as he or she embarks upon a career.
In contrast to my previous set of variations on this tune (our item 30955), those presented here are particularly suitable for the Bb Piccolo Trumpet or the Eb Trumpet. The numerous ossia passages are provided to make certain passages more easily playable on the Bb Piccolo Trumpet. - the composer
