    No More Blues (Scharnberg)

20th Century. Latin. Antonio Carlos Jobim's music was a primary factor in the growing popularity of Latin-American music in America during the 1950's and 1960's. Often his music is played as a bossa nova—a style which is an hybridization of traditional Brazilian rhythms and jazz—that Jobim created. Some of his most well-known songs are Wave, The Girl from Ipanema and Desafinado. Kim Scharnberg arranged No More Blues for the CD recording Four of a Kind, performed by the trombone quartet of the same name (Joseph Alessi, Blair Bollinger, Scott Hartman and Mark Lawrence). He chose another—more passionate—Latin beat, the samba, for this arrangement.
