Baroque period. Ninth movement (BWV 1080, Nr 9) of Bach's final opus, subtitled "Alla Duodecima." Originally written in 4-part SATB open score form, and now believed to have been intended for performance on the harpsichord. Contrapunctus IX is an example of a 4-part double fugue. -cdp
