Ballad for My Other Brother [w/narrator]

21st Century (2007). Commissioned by Michael Butrico, then Artist-in-Residence at Seminole Community College, for the celebration of Seminole Community College's founding 40 years ago, Ballad for My Other Brother [for trombone, orchestra, percussion and narrator], was a collaboration between Jamie Wehr and Dr. Wright, a published writer and poet, who worked to help establish the Zora Neale Hurston Festival, is as well a member of the Faculty at Seminole Community College. The piece is set in two parts: The first being a "marshal" fanfare musically representing the "birth" of Sanford, Florida - where Seminole Community College is located. This section leads seamlessly into the second and final section that enjoys lush harmonic and melodic contours as Dr. Wright's beautiful poem "My Other Brother" is narrated, bringing this piece to a tranquil end. Includes solo, score & parts (1 each).
