This arrangement of It Came Upon a Midnight Clear by Blair Boothe features the classic carol in a variety of styles and ways no one will expect. The piece begins with a mysterious chorale setting of the carol in a minor key, transitioning to an energeticsetting of the tune in the style of a jig. It closes with a cinematic setting of the melody, fading to a calm closing. Flugelhorn is featured often in this work.
