20th Century (1999). Fanfare for Carthage College was written for the Carthage College Brass Choir. Carthage College was Dr. David Uber's alma mater, from which he was awarded an honorary doctorate in 1999. The work is for twelve brass and percussion (4 trumpets, 3 horns, 3 trombones, euphonium, tuba, snare drum and crash cymbal). This work is a classic long form fanfare, running about three and a half minutes. It has the expected flourishes and countermelodies, but its best aspect might be the bright Mid-Century Modern harmonies. It's a joy to listen to and fun to play. Score & parts.
