Intermezzo, from Manon Lescaut Act III (Gionanidis) [211.01]
Puccini wrote his beautiful opera between 1889 and 1892 and it was first performed in 1893 in Turin, Italy. The Intermezzo from Act III of Manon Lescaut is a 5-minute interlude that ties the second and third acts together. It is very expressive, lyrical and portends the tragedy yet to unfold in the finale of Act IV.
This arrangement by Vikentios Gionanidis is appropriate for advanced performers and is scored for traditional brass quintet. Trumpet parts are supplied in C and B-flat. - the publisher
