Traditional Folk. Many will be familiar with the delightful concert band version of this lively Percy Grainger piece which features a memorable tune, colorful orchestration, clever contrapuntal writing, quick technical passages and an accelerating final wind up that brings this crowd pleaser to an exciting finish. Moderate range, finger speed challenges, syncopated rhythms. First trumpet and French horn require straight mutes. Duration is approx 2:30 minutes. Score & parts. Recorded by The Potsdam Brass Quintet on their CD, "La Rejoussance." -pc
The tune is incorrectly attributed to Grainger. It is in fact an old folk tune whose author is unknown. -cdp
