Romantic. Serenade for Strings, Opus 48 was composed in 1880 and quickly became one of Tchaikovsky's most popular works, modeled after Mozart and the Classical era's musical structure. The Finale "Tema Russo." based on two Russian folk melodies, begins slowly and then revs up into the Allegro, finally being tied all together with a quotation from the opening movement's grandiose theme.
